How to read this table

Every row holds ceiling height fixed at 7 feet, so the only thing changing from row to row is footprint — length times width. That isolation is deliberate: it's what lets you compare a 5×7 room against a 6×6 room and see that heater output tracks cubic footage almost exactly, while bench length tracks the number of bathers you've told it to plan for, which is a separate decision entirely. A small room built for a lot of people and a large room built for a couple can land on very different combinations of heater size and bench length, even at similar cost.

The cladding and running-cost columns follow the same idea. Board feet is driven by wall and ceiling surface area, which grows with the room's footprint regardless of how many bathers use it. Running cost is driven by the recommended heater's kilowatt rating, which is why the two smallest rooms in this table — both landing in the 3 kW bracket — show an identical estimated running cost despite having slightly different footprints: the bracket, not the exact cubic footage, is what the heater actually draws against.

Why does bench length stay flat across some rows while heater kW keeps climbing?

Bench length is driven by how many bathers you're seating, not by the room's volume — a 5×7 room and a 6×6 room both planned for four seated bathers on a two-tier bench need the same bench length. Heater output, by contrast, is driven purely by cubic footage, so it climbs with room volume even when the seat count assumption stays the same.

Why is height fixed at 7 feet for every row?

Holding ceiling height constant isolates footprint (length × width) as the variable that changes from row to row, which is what makes the rows comparable to each other.
